Divemaster job application – no chance

Another day and another application for a Divemaster position crosses our desk, the possibility to get employment at a desirable / hot / tropical dive centre location when you don’t know the owner by an email application is very close to 0%. To give yourself at least a small chance of employment you need to be an OWSI (Instructor) and even then there is lots of competition and you may find that you need further ‘skills’ and qualifications to make a short list of dive instructor applications.

Here is a sample DM job request application email, just for interest:

I want to apply for a job as a Divemaster for the time between 30.10.2012 and 21.02.2013.
Myself: I’m 32 years old, unmarried male  living in Austria and am a qualified electrician.
Qualifications: Since last year I am certified as Divemaster, and since last year I am also a DSD Leader. My PADI No. is available on request. In addition, I have a Gas Blender-, Nitrox, Ice Diver and Dry Diving training and will later this year make a boat license for sea and inland waters.
Experience: I started diving in 2002 and since then have made more than 700 dives, about 300 in salt water. I’ve been diving in the Maldives, Canary Islands, Austria,
Greece, Dominican Republic and Egypt.

Within the last three years, I have worked between 4 to 6 weeks in the summer every year at a diving base in Greece. For this reason my language skill in English, especially in the area of diving is quiet good. Do not hesitate to contact me in case of further inquiries.
