phuket

Phuket is referred to as the Southern Pearl of Thailand. The actual name comes from the slang Malaysian word “bukit”, which means mountain or hill. The main income for Phuket used to be the trade of rubber and tin, but in the mid 80’s tourism started to develop. Now Phuket has become the number one destination in Thailand and it attracts people from all over the world. Along the west coast you will find all the major resorts, of which Patong Beach is probably the most popular. It’s got a very long, white sandy beach that stretches out along the main beach road. At night the town becomes really alive; the hundreds of bars and restaurants ofer a great night out. The main entertainment area is Bangla Road, just off the beach road. Stroll along the shops or be welcomed inside a bar and enjoy a Thai beer. Just north of Patong Beach, 15 minutes over the hills, there is Kamala Beach. This little town offers quiet accomodation, situated in the hills, and some smaller hotels and guest houses close to the beach. This area was hit the hardest in the 2004 tsunami, but most of it has been rebuilt and the beach is more beautiful than ever. Again 10 minutes south of Patong beach you end up in Karon Beach. It has an enormous, long beach with a recently brand new constructed boulevard. Along this boulevard there are many big resort hotels to be found. Connected to Karon Beach on the south side is Kata Beach, split up into 3 areas: Kata Center, Kata Beach and Kata Noi. This town offers all the things you would expect to find in a resort town, but everything on a much smaller scale. It’s the best place if you want quiet nights, but also the possibility to go out for a beer and some great food. The beaches are some of Phuket’s best and rarely overcrowded. The town is also the closest to the pier where all the boats leave for the diving and snorkeling destinations. So another reason for us to be based exactly here. Besides scuba diving and snorkeling, Phuket offers a great number of activities and sights for an interesting day out. For example the shopping possibilities are never ending. We have super modern malls and shopping centers with all the big brands and state of the art cinemas. You could also visit the budhist temples (“wats”) or do some sight seeing around Phuket Town, the capital of the province. Also there are daytrips outside Phuket, like the sea canoeing in Phang Nga Bay. See our adventure tours section for the best tours in the area. All together Phuket is a destination not to be missed. But be careful, you might not want to leave anymore!

The south-west of Thailand is home to some unique scuba diving destinations that can be easily reached from the mainland, on a daily basis. With our own daytrip diving vessel, “Greta”, we run a seasonal schedule, taking you to the best dive sites Phuket has to offer.

From easy shallow dives to deep wreck diving, Phuket has it all. Most of the dive sites are within a 1 ½ hours cruise from the mainland.

Hop on board in the morning and enjoy some coffee and croissants in our cabin area while we travel to the first location. About one hour after departure our tour leader will give you a thorough briefing on what the dive is going to be like. Then it is time to gear up and get ready.

After a great first dive, climb back on board and we will serve you a lovely Thai lunch. Enjoy the sun on the top deck or have a look in the fish guides to identify your findings.

We offer scuba diving daytrips around Phuket with 2, 3 and even 4 dives, including a night dive. We also run a unique overnight diving trip to Phi Phi island, which includes 7 dives and very comfortable accomodation
