Gianluca Lamberti – Coral Point Diving, Dominican Republic

Gianluca has been the first  PADI Course Director that was able to run Haiti’s first ever PADI Instructor Development Course. All this happened this year in 2015 and hopefully it will help diving industry to develop more quickly in Haiti.

Take your IDC with Coral Point Diving in the Dominican Republic with a hugely experienced dive team. PADI Platinium Course Director Gianluca Lamberti has been diving since 1998 with over 5000+ logged dives all around the world. He has been diving and teaching in Maldives, Egypt, Australia, Mexico, Costarica, Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya, South Africa, Mozambique and Nicaragua and he is still actively diving.

About Gianluca

Currently working full time as a Platinium Course Director and marine biologist.

Gianluca can also help you to create your own website after your IDC to market yourself as newly qualified Instructor.

Gianluca Lamberti is one of the most experienced Instructor teaching in Dominican Republic. Since graduated as a PADI Course Director, 100% IDC candidates trained by Gianluca have achieved a first IE passing rate!

How did you get the dive bug that lead you into the dive industry?

While working as marine biologist in the Maldives in 2000 I started actually diving with the local dive centre and I was simply blown away by the PADI educational system and their diving practices. During my Maldivian experience I decided to take more PADI courses whenever possible. I was very young and so ambitious that I had 28 dives only when I decided to become PADI Course Director!

What is the philosophy of your company?

Gianluca is supported by a great team. Coral Point Diving has a professional, friendly staff committed to your needs and the environment. All of our guided tours and instructional courses are low impact to the environment. All our “ecoteam” members are well-educated about the ocean and its inhabitants and we put a lot of effort into educating IDC students as to how they can protect the aquatic environment.

Has anything funny happened during your IDC courses?

Teaching EFR Instructor courses during the IDC is always lot of fun. In one of the last IDC we had some candidates playing the role of ‘students’ and simulating some problems.

One of them started performing chest compressions on an infant mannequin using one full hand (when should be actually performed with two fingers only). The instructor couldn’t see the problem and when the student started with two full hands and the instructor kept not seeing what was wrong we all started laughing. The whole scene was just hilarious.

What is the reason Divemasters and Assistant Instructors should take their IDC with you?

We conduct the IDC Programs in Bayahibe, a tropical location, which is ideally suited for your Instructor Training. Here are just some of the features and benefits of selecting Coral Point Diving as your Go Pro training facility: IDC and IE in your Native Language, FREE IDC Preparation, FREE Introduction to our Marine Conservation Programs, FREE Introduction to TEC/SIDEMOUNT, REAL Job placement Assistance, Complementary High-speed ADSL e-mail & internet & Wireless Network, Real World Dive Centre learning environment, Competetive Pricing…

Why should you choose Dominican Republic to do your Training in the Caribbean?

In the Dominican Republic dive centres and resorts are becoming well established and common. There are roughly 44 established diving facilities on the island and paid positions often become available. Tourist VISA is easy to obtain and our interns don’t face the same problems that other students do in other Caribbean Countries. Our students don’t have to leave the country after 1 month and can stay up to 3 months, which is a very good option when you want to extend your stay, get the best out of you training and make your diving internship longer, more complete and be get better prepared sop for the real world.

Normally our candidate normally find a job on the island within the first 3 weeks after the IE, in high season!

What type of diving do you like the best?

I am all the time busy thinking, designing and realizing medium to long term projects such as Reef monitoring, coral nursery’s and alternative dive site exploration, with Reef Check being my favourite.

What else do you like (non diving)?

While not diving I just spend all the time I can with my 1 year old daughter. Just love it.

Why do you love being a PADI Course Director?

My favourite part of teaching is working with the next generation of dive professionals and leaders so being a PADI Platinium Course Director just seemed like a natural progression for me.

What does the future hold for you?

Few years ago, together with some other passionate divers, I decided to start a new dive shop from scratch in the Dominican Republic and Coral Point has grown from a small size diving centre into one of the Dominican’s most popular & successful PADI dive operations.

Hopefully we will keep growing and we will be able to create more and more Professional divers who will respect the ‘office’ where they work and spread the eco ‘message’ they learn here while becoming Instructors.

What do his IDC students think of Gianluca?

‘I did my IDC at Coral Point with Course Director Gianluca Lamberti. It was excellent value for money for the course and very cheap to live. I was worried about the physics part of the theory exam but Gianluca was a brilliant teacher and went above and beyond to help us all and I passed it with flying colours. There were 6 of us on the course and we all passed the IDC and IE to become diving instructors. The dive centre is in a beautiful location and the area feels very safe and the locals are very friendly and helpful.I couldn’t speak any Spanish which wasn’t a problem, although I am trying to learn the language. I would definitely recommend this dive centre for doing your IDC course.’
